Use in social studies for historical figures, science for chapter summary, and so many other content areas!
Great for exit slips or bell ringers. Aligned with the Common Core State Standards for ELA, grades 6-12.

Sorry you were disappointed; however I did list it for exit slips/bell ringers, so yes, it is a simple assignment. But they are very effective short assessments to see who has actually read/paid attention and is understanding the material. Not every assessment needs to be a rigorous test--we teachers are constantly assessing our students through discussions, observations, and written materials. This is just one method of evaluating their learning.

Thanks, this is an awesome way to get my students to "accurately" summarize their independent reading on their reading logs... they are in 9th grade and some still have no clue what "summarize" in just a few lines means, so maybe this will help! :) P.S. Thanks for making this free! :)

A+ idea! I love this. Extension I am pondering: Assign groups of students to be a certain character throughout reading a novel. They have to create the character's profile, and post chapterly (or another time-frame) posts on your virtual paper blog. Assign one group to be all supporting characters, and rotate groups every several chapters, so students get practice walking in the shoes of all characters. At the end, review your blog and see if any character would delete a prior post due to growth/change in opinions! Assign specific tasks, such as post about: who I am?, character's favorite quote, my POV on x situation, etc.

The Reading Buddies (TpT Seller)
I had my kids use the Twitter format this past Friday for our core novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I LOVED the Twitter planning page and the create your own page. They really helped my kids tweet as some of the characters from the novel. My kids, and principal, were in love with this and can't wait to Tweet back to each other after the next chapter.
