Help your students remember the rule for when two vowels are together in a word. Use these books when working in small groups or guided reading to support students' word work or reading strategies. Locate the words that have this phonics rule on your word wall to help with reading and spelling. When they come to a word such as boat, remind them of the song, "oa says o, o, o." This download contains and 8 1/2 x 11 size book, a 1/2 size book, and a 2 page song chart along with 5 teaching point pages to reinforce activities taught in class or to use as homework.

You are my most frequent "feedback" teacher! Enjoy the book set. I put the smaller version books in my students book boxes for independent reading time and send the last few pages home in a song folder with the rest of my songs. My parents enjoy seeing how we learn the phonics rules and having a list of words to practice reading and spelling.

Kathy has 15 years teaching experience and currently teaches 1st grade. She has experience teaching in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Kathy also worked for the OK State Department of Education on a grant for including children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
