Help your students remember the rule for when two vowels are together in a word. Kathy Griffin creates a song that is repetitive and catchy which includes example words that contain these vowel combinations. Use this song when working in small groups or guided reading to support their word work or reading strategies. Locate the words that have this phonics rule on your word wall to help with reading and spelling. When they come to a word such as boat, remind them of the song, "oa says o, o, o." Thank you. I give my students foam hats with large 5x7 cards that have been stapled with individual vowels. They get to join together arm in arm and walk around the room when their "2 vowels" are sung. Thanks for visiting my store and for leaving feedback.

It like to use it during guided reading for when my students come to a word with a vowel team or "two vowels together," I just sing the the first two letters and the students are able to sing the sounds, which helps them read the word. Kathy has 15 years teaching experience and currently teaches 1st grade. She has experience teaching in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Kathy also worked for the OK State Department of Education on a grant for including children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
