There are many types of chemical reactions and several ways to classify them. One useful method classifies reactions into four major types. These are: (1) combination, or synthesis; (2) decomposition (3) single replacement, and (4) exchange of ions or double replacement. Most reactions can be classified into one of these four groups. All of these reactions may be represented by balanced molecular equations.
The purpose of this lab is:
1) To observe some chemical reactions and identify reactants and products of those reactions.
2) To classify the reactions and write balanced equations.
Your download will include Title, Purpose, Introduction, Materials, Safety Precautions, Procedure, Analysis Questions, Student Data Pages, Answers to all Questions, and Teacher Preparation Notes.
You will receive two versions of the lab. You can choose to have your students write their own lab report and you can have them record their data on the included student data sheets. You will receive both an editable Word document and a pdf of the lab.
Answers are included.
