After years of looking for a Unit Planner that covered my needs (Short, concise, easy to edit, etc.) I finally just created one several years ago. I have edited it over the past few years until I have a product that works perfectly for me. It prints in two pages, so you can make a front to back double sided copy, it has all those important pieces that our lovely principals love to see (Objectives, standards, instructional strategies, etc.) The reason it works so well for me, is that it has the exact start to finish format that I use in each unit so that I ensure my students can quickly get used to my teaching style without a bunch of surprises. It has been great to simply stick this in my unit binders as well as my desktop folders on my computer each time I teach this unit so that I can easily see my notes from last year, the length of time, and all of the other details of how I taught the unit last time so that I can refine it for the current year, all in two quick pages!

Meg - glad to know it has use so far away!

I always try to include word doc / editable versions of all of my content as I realize that EVERYTHING teachers need and use will need to be edited and fine tuned for their classrooms! I still use this tool today with great effect - and even with a 1:1 paperless computer lab / classroom I hate to admit I mostly still fill this in by hand as I go back and edit / change so often along the way!

Excellent - thanks! I have to admit I used this A LOT the last couple of years and then got off track at the start of this year. Two months ago, I started to use it again and feel MUCH more organized when looking a few weeks ahead.

In 2012 I was chosen the Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year for the state of Oregon and was awarded the American Historical Associations Beveridge Family History Teaching Prize for innovation in the teaching of history. I have previously taught all four years of High School social studies including Government and Economics, in an International Baccalaureate Small School within a large urban High School. I currently teach 8th grade Honors US History in Oregon in a 1:1 ratio computer lab predominantly using curriculum of my own design. I am also the Department Chair and a leadership/steering team member and a Data Team Leader for our school. I am also our sites EdTech Cadre representative and also teach an elective called Games, Computers, and Programming to both 7th and 8th graders. In addition, I am also an instructor in a Masters of Education credentialing program near Portland, Oregon where I teach Social Studies methods courses and Middle School Philosophy.
