PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Use these activities and printables to help your students understand the three (3) CCSS types of writing. When students know what type of writing is needed-- opinion (persuasive), informative/explanatory (expository), and narrative -- it's a lot easier to respond to a variety of prompts. Use these ready-to-use printables to introduce and review identifying the three kinds of writing. NO PREP!

Activities include:
-- review handout and lesson (steps for writing a unified paragraph),
-- vocabulary practice,
-- sequencing,
-- matching,
-- fill-in-the-blank, and
-- short answer response.

Materials include:
-- a review of common writing vocabulary (EX: prewriting, prompt, edit, etc.)
-- six (6) printable activities with full-page answer keys,
-- teaching suggestions, and
-- ideas for additional practice.

These skill sheets can be used on their own, to supplement current teaching materials, and/or in conjunction with the companion product, Understanding Prompts: Expository, Narrative, & Persuasive PowerPoint.
