An introduction to text structures. This 75-slide presentation introduces the main text structures (chronological order, compare and contrast, cause and effect, problem and solution, and main idea/details) and shows the clue words that can be used to determine each. In addition, there are paragraphs accompanying each structure to illustrate how the text structure works, and how the structure can be used to figure out main ideas. Review opportunities are built into the presentation, as well as guided practice in figuring out text structures in paragraphs. If you are trying to crack open the difficult concept of text structure with your students, this Powerpoint will be a great place to start.
