This three-page study guide is the seventh in a series of seventeen that I designed to give students an easy way to focus on essential historical information. I use the study guide to help alleviate the problem of spending too much time covering basic content and not leaving enough time for analysis of original source documents, simulation games, debates, role playing assignments, etc. The study guide allows me to cover historical content as quickly and efficiently as possible. I then have more time for other activities that engage students with analytical thinking assignments. I also have more time to explore selected topics in depth. I usually present the study guide at the beginning of the unit and talk students through its main points.
