This 17-page packet takes students through an entire unit based on Urban Legends. It starts with a fill-in-the-blank notes sheet and overhead giving students some basic definitions. Then there are four common urban legends with questions for the students to answer. There is a question sheet based on The Encyclopedia of Urban Legends (This could basically be used with any book containing urban legends). There is also an internet activity based around Snopes.com, an online warehouse of urban legends that proves and disproves their veracity.
I had better luck just going on snopes and creating my own worksheets. The question/discussion sheet provided with the 4 urban legends with this unit was repetetive and did not provoke higher level thinking. In my opinion, this unit is a good substitute lesson, but could contain more content for the money.
