During this classroom tested, fun and easy to implement uni students build a conceptual understanding of integers by using money, tiles, sea level and number lines to represent expressions involving addition of integers.
Students learn to "visualize" the expressions and evaluate them without memorizing rules. Futhermore, a graphic organizer is utilized to help students visualize the different representations.
