Valentine Number Line Adding & Subtracting
This fun Valentine Themed SmartBoard lesson teaches the following Common Core Standard for 1st Grade: Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 20 using the strategy of a number line to find the answer to a problem.
Directions
Teacher will call out a math problem.
Student will write the math problem in the rectangle.
Student will circle the greater number and place the heart above the number on the number line.
Student will then move the heart on the number line according to the math sign and the lesser number.
The student will write the answer to the math problem.
Finally the student will touch the clear page icon in the tool bar.
If you have an Interactive Whiteboard, but it is not a SMARTBoard, you can still use this lesson by downloading SMART Notebook Express at:

Hi,
I love you activity. Just a quick question. For enrichment, I wanted to change the numbers to a higher value and it will not let me. Why is that? I was looking for an activity to use on three different tiers. Thanks you!

I locked in the number line because I used a font that most people don't have.
Ok I just made another page that you can edit the numbers on. If you go to My Purchases and download the file again you will be able to edit the number line. You will have to unlock each number to do it though. If you need any additional help you can email me at cssmartietech@gmail.com
