Valentine's Day Box Contest for Student Fun and Writing Skills
Many students are happy to simply bring in a bag for their Valentines, but this document encourages students to participate in a Valentine's Box Contest. Included in the packet is a page of "participation" ribbons, as well as some 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons for creativity, construction effort, funniest, and unique opening. The packet also includes a Valentine's party letter to the parents which has an example Valentine's Day box. Most kids seem to enjoy this activity. I also have the students write about their creations.
