Students will be presented with a simple Valentine's Day poem, for which they will compose a rhythm and melody. This project can be used with any instrument and any notes students are familiar with (ie. recorders, xylophones, boomwhackers, hand bells) so that students can perform their composition. The flipchart contains all necessary materials and directions, including teacher notes, needed to complete this project. A great way to incorporate composition into music instruction using a fun holiday theme!

I have had a passion for both music and technology from a very young age...in my classroom I combine the two to create exciting, interactive, and meaningful music lessons. I am a certified Teach21 teacher, which is a two-year educational technology endorsement for my school district. I teach at a STEM Academy where we integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics into all aspects of our curriculum. We are pushing the envelope of STEM education in public schooling and I love it!!
