This product is an example of how simple grant writing can be when you are dealing with local grantors. Quite basically, I wrote a letter to the local agency describing how our proposed project fit the conditions they had published and included the lesson plan for my students. In the end, I submitted a "journal-type" report of what we had done. Believe me, I had serious trepidation about tackling the building of a garden (along with every other responsibility in my life), but it was SO gratifying in the end. I highly recommend teachers looking into local grants for school projects - I mean, someone gets the grants, right? Included with this product are the initial lesson, correspondence with the grantor, an announcement of the project to the school community and the final report to the grantor, which doubled as info for the reporters who covered the story. Do it. It's a fabulous experience!
