Viewing Guide TED Talks- Salman Khan Let's use video to reinvent education
Salman Khan of the wildly popular Khan Academy (millions of YouTube hits) proposes to transform the traditional method of instruction, the classroom lecture. By using interactive, short videos that students can pause, repeat or play on their time, he argues to use classroom time for peer-to-peer tutoring, one on one teaching, class discussion and projects.
This resource is more than just a ten question viewing guide to follow up an engaging TED Talk. It contains an information sheet defining the flipped classroom, detailed and thought provoking questions to discuss and think about, a flipped classroom readiness survey and an informative two-page reference sheet with links to resources on the flipped classroom and its cousin, the blended classroom.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
This is my 23rd year teaching. My husband (also an AP English teacher) and I launched our first son into college this summer. I teach AP English Language and newspaper journalism. Each instructional experience has helped me grow as a teacher- US Peace Corps; Togo (West Africa), inner city Miami, suburban Seattle, ESL in Korea, international school in Colombia, school of choice Miami, Florida Virtual School and now, suburban Atlanta. Making viewing guides gives me an opportunity to re-watch some of my favorites and write curriculum to support some of the most inspiring and interesting web-based presentations in the modern world. I think about which ones I would use in the classroom, what my teaching colleagues would use or what I would like my students and my own children to view in their classrooms.
