Students get to create a tri-fold brochure of Vocabulary Words, Definitions, Parts of Speech, Synonyms, Antonyms, and Analogies.
An additional printable page for illustrating vocabulary terms is also included.
This tri-fold can be used as a study guide for tests or as an ongoing assignment to accompany the reading text from which vocabulary terms have been selected.
Sometimes, I let this tri-fold take the place of a vocabulary quiz! After completing all of the activities involved in this tri-fold, an in-depth study of their terms has been completed. Isn't that the point of vocabulary words anyway? We do not want them memorizing words; we want them learning them!
Students complete a section or two each day (in class or for homework) until the tri-fold is completed. In the end, they've done quite a bit with their vocabulary!
This has worked wonders with students that shut down with the drone of note taking or copying definitions. Not only that, because they are continuously applying their words' meanings in different activities, they learn them long before they even realize it!
This word study activity sheet is not limited to language arts.
It is a great tool for social studies, science, and other areas too!

Glad you like the idea so much; I know....the typing thing--trying to keep things secure and not let the get out of whack. I can only imagine what it would look like if it was a word doc and people were trying to open it. I guess you can understand it's for compatibility issues as well as security issues. Hmmm, I'm not sure why that is. Maybe check to see that you've updated your acrobat? It is one of my top sellers and i've never had anyone say they couldn't print it. Please let me know if you are successful. If not, i ask that you email info@teacherspayteachers.com to let them know. I'm sorry for any inconvenience. I just download it from the site and it worked fine. I'm thinking it must be your adobe/acrobat version or your printer settings.

I think I am one of those visual learners you refer to in your directions. I guess I need to see a final product. I don't understand how it folds because the numbers don't line up. Also, if its supposed to be front to back, why are there only 3pages? My 4th page is a direction page for the teacher. Would you have a sample that you could email me? I totally get the "VISUAL" need... I'm printing it right now (don't have one here w/ me) and will snap photo and email you! I'll add the photo to the file too, so thanks for the idea! :) Oh, I'm not sure what you mean about numbers not lining up...I didn't put page numbers on them because it would be folded in thirds. The 3rd page is simply a {separate} activity or an insert to the "brochure" so to speak...emailing in just a sec
