This activity inspires students to read, comprehend meaning, and categorize groups of words. There are 15 different worksheets which cover a variety of topics and subject areas. There is also one worksheet with empty triangles so students can create their own word triagles. You may use to for your own vocabulary words too. This activity can be done individually or in groups. I pair up my students so they practice pronouncing new vocabulary and discuss ideas about the category for each set of words. They enjoy doing this activity. For many of the sets there are "higher and lower" ways to categorize the words. Some students are very creative when categorizing words, and this leads to higher level thinking. Follow-up discussions at the end of the activity are suggested as it gets students to look at various thought patterns. A complete answer key is included.
