Incorporate twenty-first century skills into your curriculum by having students create a Voki avatar, post it on a wiki (or other public space), and write about it. Skills that can be included are technology, creativity, communication, and internet safety. This file gives step-by-step instructions on creating a Voki (free, on-line program) and embedding it into a Wiki. The instructions can be easily edited to fit your curriculum and needs. If you'd like to see how I'm using this in my classroom, please contact me through this site.

I began teaching in a one room, kindergarten through eighth grade school. I continued working in one or two room facilities for seven years. Eighteen years ago, I took a fifth grade position in a rural, town school. In my current position, I teach reading, language arts, and science. I also tutor students enrolled in the after school program in the areas of reading and math.
