If you and your students are fans of Jack Hartmann, you'll love this slide show that accompanies his song "Vowel Sound Samba" off the Shake, Rattle, n' Read CD. The song alone appeals to your auditory learners, but when you combine it with the bright photographs in this slide show, it will engage the minds of your visual learners, too. It's a fun way to teach, practice, and reinforce both sounds of each vowel. I also included the sign-language photos for each vowel which is a fun way to engage your kinesthetic learners.
To combine the song with the slide show, connect your computer to your projector and open the document so it's ready. Then start the song "Vowel Sound Samba" and advance each slide of the show so it matches the song.
If you liked this slide show, look for my FREE companion sheet to this song. It can be printed and given to children for reference when reading and writing or you can enlarge it to poster-size and post it on your wall.

I see that the slide show shows long vowel a. At this time of the year, I don't want to expose the students to long vowel sounds. We're just trying to learn short vowel sounds. I would like the option later in the year to show both, but not yet. Is there a short vowel only option?
