In this classroom activity on wants vs. needs, students will choose goods to "purchase" from a classroom market prepared by the teacher. Students will have a set budget to spend on whatever they want, but they must choose wisely between wants and needs.
The activity also doubles as a useful math activity, as students calculate the total purchase amount and must keep their spending on a budget.
This includes a full lesson plan with preparation instructions, class discussion notes and questions, and a worksheet for students to use in the class market.
It is an excellent introduction to an economics unit.
