This reading guide for War Horse is broken up by chapters and comes with a writing prompt for each day, comprehension questions for all chapters, and a graphic organizer for each lesson. I also included a student reflection to be completed after reading the novel. A great and meaningful book, and it provides students with a unique perspective on friendship and war (told from the point of view of the horse, Joey).
Including writing prompts before each section is excellent. Although some of the prompts are a generic, they do have excellent points to help guide student writing. Excellent comprehension questions and open-ended questions. I can't wait to use the unit!

Just started the novel with my English I class, and it looks like this packet will be a great help.

Oh yikes, I need to fix that...it should say the reading guide is 'broken up into sections by chapter'. No worries, nothing is wrong with the reading guide itself and I'll fix my typo right now!

Are vocabulary activities included in your packet? Also, are skills or strategies taught or and mentioned in the packet?
Hi...I dont have vocabulary strategies in the reading guide. But there are ELA skills and strategies addressed throughout (visualization, setting, point of view, compare and contrast, character traits), as well as comprehension questions for all chapters. Hope this helps!
