I've used this "Weekly Work Watcher" over the last few years to help kids reflect on their week and set goals for the next week. I have the kids look at their corrected work from the week then set their goals. I staple the "Weekly Work Watcher" to their weekly work and send it home on Friday. As I check over what they have written, I sometimes might change the ratings with my purple pen. By using my purple teacher pen, parents can see the difference between their child's thoughts and my thoughts. Many times, the kids can be very tough on themselves. I also try to write at least one good comment to each child on their paper. I would love to receive feedback on the form. Thank you! :) Steph

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for twelve years. My first three years were in a fourth grade classroom. I have spent the last nine years teaching third grade. While in third grade, I have had the opportunity to train as a Literacy Coach with the Literacy Collaborative at Lesley University. As a Literacy Coach, I've worked with teachers in grades 3-6 to support their teaching of literacy. I have led many professional development sessions on reading workshop, writing workshop, poetry workshop and word study for my colleagues. I had the opportunity to teach a session at one of the Literacy Collaborative's summer workshops. I'm hoping to share my literacy experience with other dedicated teachers.
