I developed this reading log to allow students to assess themselves as a reader during SSR (Self-Selected Reading or Sustained Silent Reading) time. In addition I have included a place for students to record reading outside of class in a way that is researched-based. Students who are told to "read 20 minutes" will read only 20 minutes and stop. The way this log is worded, appears more like a challenge to "see how much" you read.
