This is a two day activity done in pairs. The first day, the pair creates an order of operations problem according to set of guidelines and they write that problem down on page 3. They also create an answer key as well as a list of steps on page 4. The teacher collects all packets by the end of class.

On the second day, the teacher randomly passes out the packets. Once students receive their packet, they go to page 3 and work the problem that the other team created. Once they have their answer, they then use the rubric on page 2 to grade the other team's work. When they are done, have them write "Graded by ______" on page 1 and then write the grade. Tell them to raise their packets in the air when they are finished so that you can collect them.

Once all packets have been collected, pass the packets back out to the owners and tell them to take a look at their grade. If they agree with the person who graded their paper, then hold it up in the air and you will collect it. If they do not agree, tell them to raise their hands so that you can supervise a respectful conversation between themselves and the person who graded their paper.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

As a teacher, I taught 7th grade math. After a few years, I began my own mathematics company for grades 6-8. After a few years, I began to branch out and now create materials for grades 3-11. I am now also teaching at the college level which has given me a unique perspective on 3rd Grade - College which I know will help me create even stronger products.
