This center activity was so enjoyed by my students last year in 1st grade, that they reminded me to get it out again this year in 2nd grade! (I looped with my students.) This is a practice activity for telling time on the hour, half hour and quarter hour. It can also be adapted for younger children by removing some of the cards. Children can use student clocks or any clock that has hands that are movable to set the time. Children stand up the "Whoooo Has the Time?" flip cards in front of them on the table. Each child takes turns to choose a card, set the hands on their practice clock and then open the flip card to check their answer. It's instant feedback and immediate correction when needed! There is an easy to read card with directions so students can use this activity as independent or small group practice.
And the activity is so easy to create - simply reproduce on heavy paper, laminate, if desired, and cut apart. Then lay each digital time clock on top of each matching analog clock and staple at the top. The heavy paper makes the cards stand up (like a tent) without revealing the answer until time to lift the flap. Complete teacher directions on assembly are given to create 16 sets of clocks.
This activity, created by Terry Palmieri, is a favorite with her 1st and 2nd grade students. YOUR students will ask for it again and again!
