Here is a practice page for area in square units (1"). Children look at shaded sections on a grid to find and record the surface area. Then they create their own shaded sections when given an area of units to represent. This added feature will promote higher order thinking and problem solving skills as children try to fit all the required areas onto their paper. It CAN be done! And your students will rise to the challenge as they practice representing Area in square units.
