*Penguin Word Hunt {pg. 9-19} Get your kids moving with this read around the room word hunt. Students will find hidden penguins and record the word written on each.

*Penguin Rhymes {pg. 20-29} In this cooperative activity, each student will be given a penguin word card. Students must read their cards and find their rhyming partner and complete a word family activity.

*Penguin Puzzlers {pg. 30-38} In a Guess Who style game, students will read clues and figure out which penguin each puzzler is describing.

*Mystery Penguins {pg. 39-40} Students will write their own descriptive clues to help their classmates figure out which penguin is the Mystery Penguin.

*Mitten Match {pg. 41-49} In this literacy center, students will practice antonyms by matching pairs of mittens and recording their answers on a sheet.

*Cookie Sweets, Parts of Speech {pg. 50-55} Give your kiddos extra practice identifying nouns, adjectives, and verbs in this sweet literacy center.

* Hot, Hot Cocoa: A Sight Word Game {pg. 56-69} Students will have fun practicing their sight words with this game. Similar to the game BANG.

*Make-A-Word Snowflake {pg. 69-72} Using the letters in the word SNOWFLAKE students will try to make as many new words as they can in this literacy center.

*Make-A-Word Hot Chocolate {pg. 73-76} Using the letters in the words HOT CHOCOLATE students will try to make as many new words as they can in this literacy center.

*How to Build a Snowman Writers Workshop {pg. 77-90} Use this weeklong plan for a writers workshop focusing on sequential writing. Includes suggested literature, brainstorming activity, graphic organizer, final copy paper, and editing checklist.

*Snowman Craft {pg. 91-94} This cute snowman craft can be used to publish students writing or in other seasonal lessons. Picture, templates and directions are included.
