ABOUT THIS FREE PRODUCT:
I created this activity as a compliment to my Haunted House For Sale writing project, but it would be great to use on it's own as well.
Witches' Brew is a fun. catchy, upbeat song by Hap Palmer. It's also chock full of adjectives. I kick off my descriptive writing unit by teaching this song to my students. We look through the lyrics and identify the adjectives. The adjectives from the song are added to our "Bubbling Pot of Descriptive Words for the Month of October." Finally, the students brainstorm and add their own words.
We use the collection as a resource for our writing throughout the month.
Included in this FREEBIE is...
a lyrics sheet to use for the adjective hunt (this would also be great in a poetry folder/center)
a graphic organizer for brainstorming and collecting thematic adjectives

Over the years I have worked my way up from Preschool to Kindergarten to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I've been in third grade for 6 years and simply adore teaching this age. My experiences have included inner-city and neighborhood schools in the suburbs. I've loved both for different reasons.
