This 16 page file consists of 15 printable word building activities and an answer key. Using a multisensory approach, students practice spelling words that follow specific phonetic patterns. Each activity consists of 10 to 12 "What am I?" clues and a set of word parts. Students cut out the word parts (syllables, blends, vowel pairs, or other chunks), read the clues, and use the word parts to form a word that fits the clue. They then glue the word parts next to the clue and write the resulting word. These tasks make great independent center activities, and can be used to supplement spelling or vocabulary lists. The answer key can be used as weekly spelling lists.
