Parent note to send home with slides included.
Lately I have been using the corresponding Word Family Slide when I introduce a new sound or sound spelling. For example: our phonics program introduces the /aw/ sound. The students each make a /aw/ word family slide. Each time the slide is read, the student has the listener (student or teacher) initial one of the boxes at the bottom of the slide. They can take the slide home and have parents initial too.
