All aboard helping your students practice their word families in this cute literacy center!
Students will build their phonics skills as they connect the train cards using one of the 3 versions to play. Also great for small groups!
Game #1
Students draw an engine card and place it face up. Players take turns drawing beginning sound train cards to see if they can make words and add train cards to their engines. Players try to be the first to add four cars to their trains.
Game #2
Word family engine cards are laid face up in a vertical line. Players take turns drawing beginning sound train cards and try to make words with any of the engines. Each time a player makes the fourth word on a train, they may collect the whole train. The person who collects the most trains wins!
Game #3
Players work together to add train cards to the engine to form words!
Small Groups
Lay a word family engine card face up in front of students and several of the beginning sound train cards. Ask the students to tell you (or write down) the words that can be made with the word family. Repeat with another engine card.
Included:
20 "Word Family" engine cards
39 beginning sound train cards
(including 1,2 and 3 letter blended sounds)
3 blank train cards for you to use if needed
Very cute but can not be printed in B&W-some letters can't be read. Uses alot of colored ink to make enough for a classroom.

Thank you - ideal for my class. All the students have autism & trains are the way to engage them in learning. Can't wait to use your resource :-) :-) :-)
