This packet includes 32 flip books, each focusing on a different short vowel word family. Students cut apart the word cards and stack them. Then they staple or glue the stack to create a flip book. Students can practice reading these words over and over to achieve fluency!!
In addition to the 32 flip books, there are also 4 reinforcement activities. Students can choose 2 words from the word family and draw a picture for each. Students can write a sentence and illustrate it using words from the book. Students can write the words from the book; in the last actiivity, students choose three words to write and stamp. There are reproducible forms for these activities, as well as a model of each one.
The following word families are included: ab, ack, ad, ag, am, an, ap, at, ed, ell, en, est, et, ick, id, ig, ill, im, in, ing, ip, it, ob, ock, og, op, ot, ox, ub, ug, um, and un.
These books and accompanying activities would be a great addition to literacy centers/stations or any other word work. They could also be used as homework or morning work to reinforce these important word families.
