Students can be "word hunters" with this text-based activity. Using a selected book (teacher or student-choice), students will search for the word "said" and all the words that can be substituted for it. By bringing attention to author word choice, students can make the bridge from reading to writing. This is an especially great activity for students who need to boost up their own writing!
