I use these word lists each week to work on fluency and phonics skills with my students. On Monday, I time each student as he/she reads the list. I record their time on their paper as well as my class chart. I send the word list with their time home with them to practice. On Friday, I time each student again to look for improvement. They love to see if they can beat their previous score.
Wow! this goes great with our Jolly Phonics program. what a great tool!

Jodi,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! This product is wonderfully laid out, consistant progression, and extremely easy for me to follow (I am back in a first grade classroom after 17 years as a Specials teacher servicing the whole school for 45 minute periods).
I wish I had found it at the begining of the year. I am going to use it now with my little RTI repeater. You can BET I'm starting out with this first thing next year!!!
I just found this seller today and downloaded a couple of the free things. I will return and check out her site later, though, as I liked the materials.
I live in Terre Haute and used to teach at the same school where Jodi is teaching.
Great resource! Do you have an idea how I can effectively implement this into my fluency center? I'm worried that the kids will be concentrating on time rather than reading the words accurately.
I had taught Saxon Phonics for years. I've been scrambling to fill the void. Thank you so much for sharing

I couldn't figure out how to answer you, so will do it this way. I am retired now from teaching sp ed for 28 years in Vigo County. (40 years altogether). I run a tutoring service called Accent on Learning. Look us up sometime.

Hi,
Sorry I realized my question should have gone under this section. How can I effectively implement this into my fluency center? I'm worried that the kids will be concentrating on time rather than reading the words accurately.
Maybe if you do it with them a couple of times first, then they could do it independently. I always just did it myself while at the restroom or during some free time in the day. I would make sure that they read the words correctly :)

Hi, I couldn't download your product. It just didn't open. Thanks for any help.
Do you have the latest version of Adobe? Most of hte time, this is the problem. If you have a Mac, try this:
1) The file typically opens on its own (using the "Preview" program) once I download it.
2) Close the file and locate where it is downloaded/saved on your computer
3) Click/highlight the file name (do not open it).
4) Go to File and select "Open with..." choose Adobe Reader
5) The PDF file should open in Adobe Reader making it readable - eliminating black lines and blurry words.

When I downloaded this file, no text is showing up. Is it possible to email it to me please? warnerfour@gmail.com or warnerc@duvalschools.org.

Hi Jodi,
I love your packets! I just downloaded Word Lists but it appears my computer doesn't support the font. What can I do?
Thank you,
Shelley
I have been a teacher for 10 years. I have taught Art, 1st grade and 3rd grade, but my heart is definitely in 1st. I love to create things that I think will make learning more fun for my students.
