Students learn Latin and Greek word stems and roots that help them unlock words used in mathematics, science, social studies and more. I've used this program in my classroom for years with GREAT success. It's a complete program for your year.
There are 20 word lists included. Each list has students learning 5 new word stems and using the stems in various ways. Even numbered tests include the current list of 5 words plus a review of the 5 words from the previous list. A semester test and final year test are included. Read below for details.
Worksheets Included:
• 5 Sentences – students write 5 sentences using the stems. 5 sentences per worksheet.
• 10 Sentences - students write 10 sentences using the stems. 10 sentences per worksheet.
• Word Search – students use words with the stems and create a word search puzzle as well as an answer key
• Dictionary Work – students practice dictionary skills and choose a word with the stem and then determine the pronunciation, guide words, definitions, parts of speech, give a sample sentence, and etymology.
• Stem Poster – students draw a poster to help others learn the stem and its meaning. Great posters can be added to your word wall.
• Tic Tac Toe – students use their flash cards and try to get a tic-tac-toe using weekly stems and roots against a partner

Hi Deborah. I think you could easily use Word Masters. Five new word stems/roots are introduced every other week. There are different activities for students to use to become familiar with the stems/roots. You could set a goal to learn three of the five words for a score and your high achievers would strive to learn five. Many of the stems are important for students to learn. Does that help? My feeling is if you use this to stretch your students, you'll be surprised at how many of your students will be able to do it!

Hi Abby. I think it would be fine. The only graphics are the yellow stars. The PPT slideshows would be fine too. Wait a sec! I have a secondary version I will post. You can compare the two. I was under the impression that each Powerpoint slide show had visual pictures for each vocabulary word. That is what you show in your preview. That was the main purpose I bought the program. I like to always show a visual picture of the vocabulary words I show my students. The flashcards look nice, but this is not what I thought I was purchasing. I am disappointed.

Hi Charlene. I am sorry you're disappointed. My product description and previews never stated or showed that the slide shows had graphics. Each slide show shows a background theme for the slide show. I have an idea though that will make you happy. Since I gave the PowerPoint slides shows in their original form, you can do a search for a graphic and insert as many graphics where you'd like, as the slide shows ARE in editable form. I hope this helps because you can certainly add your own graphics and customize the slide shows to meet your needs.
