This is a complete centers activity for the investigation and comparison of the major world religions. Students will visit each center to see vivid images and to read concise descriptions of the origination, practices, basic beliefs, and so much more on Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. Covers all of the core standards for teaching world religions in a Social Studies course.
Includes 7 Centers Cards for each of the 5 religions. Also includes student handouts for gathering information and 2 pages of comparison questions. These questions would serve as a great overview for the class wrap-up.
This lesson would work well in a World History course or in any other where the religions are studied or compared.

While this product is accurate and the activity the product incorporates is well-planned, I was not pleased with the quality of the photographs and other images. Even with the latest version of Adobe, imaged appeared - and printed - blurry (Many of them).

Content was great and super useful, just a few little mechanical/aesthetic issues. Spelling error on one of the Judaism cards, the word mourn was spelled morn. Several bullet points are out of alignment. I am looking forward to purchasing more of your work. Thank you.

Thank you for the world religion activity. I used the posters for Judaism, Christianity and Islam. I then created a matrix chart that the students completed as they moved around the room reading the laminated posters. I will do the same for Hinduism and Buddhism when we study Asia. It is a great way to keep middle school students active and engaged. Thank You! :) Your posters saved me a lot of time!
(PS: I also have a large class, so I printed out two sets and set one up in the hallway, the other around the classroom.)

Thank you! And my suggestion for your large classes would be to divide the classes in half and have one group working on vocab, reading or analysis activities while the others do the centers and then switch the next day. Or an online scavenger hunt may be good for one group if you have lab or laptop access! Good luck!

I am thinking this would be a great activity for the end of the year of my World History studies (next year they go onto US History). It would bring together the religions studied in 6th and 7th grade. What do you think? I haven't seen the unit yet...just wondering.

I usually started my World History courses with a world religions unit (including this activity), but I can also see it as a good wrap-up to the year. It compares the major world religions and also provides great information on each. It would help students to see the many similarities and the areas of contention relating to so many historic events they will study in U.S. and have studied in World!

I did not upload a preview yet, but the thumbnails are great samples of the product cards. There are 7 topic cards for each of the 5 religions. The general topics are origination, gods, worship, beliefs, laws, practices, and a general introduction to each religion. There are also cards with directions for the activity and student handouts, including 2 pages of comparison questions to be used as wrap-ups at the end. I hope this answers your question!
