"Write-Around" is a strategy I enjoy using when Algebra becomes "multi-step"! Groups of no more than 5 students are given these sheets such that every student starts with a different problem. Each student only solves the NEXT step of the problem, passing the paper on to the next person to complete the NEXT step. Detailed instructions are on the top of each of these "Write-Around" sheets. Very often, I will choose one problem from each group to actually grade, warning the students ahead of time that they won't know which problem I plan to grade. Great way to engage all students, heightening thinking skills so students not only complete work on their own, but analyze one another's work. I've seen the "write-around" strategy used in a writing class, but never thought to use it with my math courses! What a great way to encourage higher order thinking in students!
I did modify some of the problems to differentiate for my students. Maybe include an editable blank page for teachers to add their own multi-step problems?

Great activity. The only suggestion would be to send it as a word doc so teachers can edit it for different learning levels.
