Covers the topic well, but I'm not a fan of the picnic-table motif of the powerpoint. Personal preference, but I will use it in my 8th grade LA class after I change the layout. Thanks!

We're actually doing compare/contrast writings in 8th grade, and I was looking for something to show them to help to further develop the writing of strong introductions. This will definitely be a useful tool. I do think though that compare/contrast writing could be added to the "Modes" slide because it would pertain as well. Thank you for the PowerPoint presentation; it definitely saved me time!

I am beginning my 16th year of teaching and have taught in grades 2 (6 years), 3 (1 year), 4 (2 years), and 5 (4 years). I have also served as an elementary writing coach. In addition to teaching, I am a writing consultant for several universities in the state of Alabama, including my home district in Mobile County.
