Need a fun, engaging lesson for a beginning of the year lwriting sesson? This minilesson for a launching writing workshop unit is excellent for a getting students to think like writers. Using imagination and visualization, students activate their senses and use sensory images to describe. It's an engaging lesson for early in the year that makes students want to write.
Written as a scripted lesson it includes the mini-lesson areas: CONNECTION, MODEL, TRY IT OUT, SOLIDFY, as well as INDEPENDENT PRACTICE and WHOLE GROUP SHARE.
This is scripted but very easy to modify to make the lesson your own!
