This slide presentation covers the BASICS of writing a research paper: from choosing a topic and note-taking, making source cards, writing an outline, rough draft, and final draft using the writing process, to formatting and writing a bibiography. Several slides describe different sources of information. It also has slides discussing plagiarism and how to avoid it. Revised and updated in August 2011.

Incomplete information - I was looking for something that would thoroughly describe to students how to do the notecards and source cards with examples provided. I didn't really need the descriptions of each source.

I agree with the feedback that was left before me. The first 6 slides are really good, the next 14 simple describe what each source is:dictionary, almanac, atlas (each one its own slide). The last two are also good. I could have written this PowerPoint in the time it took to download it and write a comment. Condense the slides and add structure of a research paper and it would be better.

While this was a good, basic approach, it did not ultimately provide more than I already had on hand. I wish that I could have seen an outline of the slides before making a purchase.

I have a total of 20 years teaching experience. After I received my M.Ed. from the University of Florida, I began teaching in elementary school, where I taught pull-out remedial classes for grades 2-5 and a section of K-1. Then I taught Pre-K for 5 years, before I decided to go up to Middle School, where I have been in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I am currently teaching 7th grade. I am certified in Elementary Education as well as in Middle Grades in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. I am certified as a Teacher Support Specialist. I have an endorsement in Reading K-12, and I also completed my Gifted and Talented Endorsement.
