This 25-page file includes all of the handouts and management forms for a yearlong project which I call book shares--my take on book reports. The book share consists of a written form with details about the book (2 versions are included in this package) and an oral presentation which is graded on the spot (2 options for rubrics are included). My students complete these reports twice per quarter throughout the school year. Most of the forms are also included in SPANISH. In this FREE package are all of the forms you will need to implement this project and make it your own.

Wonderful--I'd like the Word file, so I can put in my own name, contact info, and schedule. Would it be possible to get it that way? I'm also wondering about how you actually manage getting in 2 book shares per quarter.... How do you actually schedule that?

Our quarters run 9 weeks, and I usually would have about 25 kids in the class. The kids were on a 4-week rotation, with about 6 kids presenting per week. It took between 30 minutes and an hour each Friday.

When I first opened the pdf file, I was amazed at how organized and detailed the project was. My second thought was, "I really want to use this in Spanish, but to translate it would take awhile."
Then I scrolled down, and it was already translated into Spanish!!!!!!!!

This is a GREAT idea. It gets children to read, it gives them practice in writing, it provides assessment opportunities, and it's easily differentiated. It also provides enough variety that it won't get stagnant. I like that it makes the student responsible for the activity!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Subject Area:
I have been a public school teacher in a highly respected district in the Atlanta metro area for the past 11 years. I have taught very diverse students, usually all together in one group! After teaching fourth grade for ten years, I am now teaching a computer lab special to 3 and 4 year olds, and loving it! I am also the technology coordinator for my public, special needs school.
