Students work with positive and negative integers in order to create words which have a sum of zero.
For example, the word math (-12) + 4 + 6 + = 0
Here are a few other words which also have a sum of zero: Freer, boy, love, wax, cop, tax, ace, queen, zest, one, tux, nobel, pal, bash, fight, lap, late, alp, spat, state, pats, taps, harp, noe, fog, tale, tail, and teal.
Help them get started by saying a sentence with one of the words above as a hint. For example: "The queen of hearts is my favorite card."
