To give students an idea of what a Presidential election entails, an election simulation has been created by Cable in the Classroom. For accountability purposes, I created a worksheet for students to complete. This will be a partner assignment where each partner will complete their own worksheet as they experience different situations along the course of this election simulation. The worksheet concludes with a writing assignment in the form of a journal.
It my students 90-120 minutes to complete the on-line portion and then they completed the writing assignment for homework.
Unfortunately, this simulation does not reflect the 2000 Census and the Electoral College map is from the 2000 election and not the 2004 election.
Note: You must have Adobe Shockwave installed on the computers for this to work. It is a free download and does not take long to install.
