i got the idea from Step up to Writing and tweaked it to meet my needs.
we start with 3 blues which are the attention grabbers - can be questions or statements. then the last sentence is the thesis/topic sentence, setting up the 3 middle paragraphs. each main idea is black, with the reds being facts or examples or details - however use wish to say it. finally, at the end, we have 3 blues, stating anything not previously stated, and a conclusion, restating the thesis.
i love the colors, because as i walk the room, my eye can look for all of the greens, or the blacks, depending on what my focus is for that day. also, the colors help the students to make sure that they have everything that is required. hope this helps. susan

I wanted more directions with this product. The product is well thought out but I'm not sure how to use the color-coding system.
