Genre Posters + Individual Genre Reference page!
These colorful posters will help your students readily identify various genres in literature in a fun way. Use them to sort your classroom library books into different areas, or just use them as a reference in your library.
ALSO INCLUDED..., the individual reference page is great to help young children learn to choose a variety of books and it is simple and easy for them to use. I print enough copies for the entire class in color. I then put the reference page into a sheet protector that goes into a durable, plastic folder for each child. (I keep the folders with the reference pages for next year's class so I don't have to copy from year to year)... The students refer to this page when they write down the names of books that they have read. They also graph their reading so they can see if they tend to read from the same genre too much or if they do a good job of reading a variety of materials. It is also a good way for me to monitor their reading and allows me to make suggestions based on what they have read.

Rockin' Teacher Materials

Help

I have been teaching for 25 years. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade...then began to loop with 2nd and 3rd graders. I absolutely loved looping! It was so exciting to watch the growth in those little buggers over a two year period....and talk about getting attached! Those little people, their families and I became very close. We stopped looping a few years ago when we changed principals. I'm trying to talk my new principal into letting me team teach with a friend....we just want to knock out one of the walls!
