Kids have a difficult time keeping their working environment tidy. How can they produce any neat, clear work? Over the years I have collected little odd and ends (dollar store items) that I give as reward for being tidy. Before the students come back in from recess, they find a note from the tidy fairy and then can choose something from my prize box. Kids that didn't receive a tidy fairy note soon realize that they should keep their space tidy in order to get a treat. Works everytime! It also saves me time from commiting 15 minutes for a whole class cleanup or if I'm searching for notebooks. This works especially well with the older grades that have textbooks in their desk.
