I have been teaching in Florida for four years. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, doing multiple grade levels at once. I work in a Title 1 school with a majority of students coming from poverty stricken homes and various backgrounds. For the past few years I have been working with primarily ELL learners so vocabulary is key. I make many visual aids to help ensure their success.
I like my students to become critical and independent thinkers. In my classroom I do many cooperative learning activities to build my students oral language, social skills, and problem-solving skills. I love teaching 3rd grade even with the pressure of the FCAT. I like to help my students to become successful as learners, but also as individuals. Instilling confidence and perservance is a prority in order to ensure their success.
