1stFriends re: Student Planner and Parent Resource with Common Core, editable {First Grade}
Hi! I am a Director of a church based Kindergarten and I have a son entering First Grade. Can you highlight the differences in these two planners --- not the Common Core differences but the "help" type pages, such as the Math Addition, etc. Thanks!
Cassie

Sure! In the Kindergarten Planner, very basic skills are added to the resource pages. For example, it covers Math Addition and Subtraction Facts to 5 whereas the First Grade Planner has Math Addition Facts to 10 and to 20. The First Grade Planner has coins and clocks and the Kindergarten one does not. Basically, this follows the Common Core Standards (as far as basic skills) for the expectation for that grade level. Thanks again! April

Thanks for your answer. However, in the power point slide, I have to delete all of the text boxes? On each page? That would be rather time consuming. Is there another way? Or could you send the powerpoint without any preset text boxes?

Unfortunately, in the Power Point version, whichever boxes you don't need, you would have to delete. I'm SO sorry about that. That is the only way I could make the entire planner editable and easy for someone to add text. However, what I would do is edit the pages I needed to edit and then print just those pages out from the Power Point file. Then in the PDF file, I would print out all the pages I didn't need to edit. None of those pages have text boxes to delete. I hope this helps!! April

I'm a little confused! I understood from the description that I could create an edited version, which is what I need. I thought I could edit it and then print the edited copy. Is there a way to print it in powerpoint so it fills the whole page like the pdf? If I just print the slides, they are not the right size. I need a printed copy, but the pdf won't work for me. I already bought it and hope there is a way to print an edited copy. Thanks!

Sure! Yes, you can edit the planner in the fields (as mentioned). (So not template, colors, dates or standards.) In Power Point, you can edit and then print the pages you need. If for some reason, it is not taking up the entire page, just go to "Design" then "Page Setup" then choose 8.5x11 (or maybe 8.4x10.9 so you get the entire design). I hope this helps! April

Hi! I am looking at your classroom organizers. I love the idea of a classroom planner, but I am a secondary teacher, and it looks more geared towards elementary. I noticed that some users said they got their organizers and planners binded. How does that work? Do people just print up your planners and bring them to an office supply store and ask them to bind it? Or does the store somehow print and bind?
June 17, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
A Modern Teacher
A Modern Teacher  (TpT Seller)
You know, I would think that you could use the organizer (and even the middle school planner) but I'm not 100% sure. Since I don't have high school experience, I just can't tell you for sure if it would work. As far as printing, either way would work. If you have access to a printer, then printing it yourself would be the cheaper way to go and then you can take it to an office supply store and have them bind it for you. The binding itself costs $3-$5 dollars. That is what I did but you could have them do the entire planner too. You just need to specify to them which pages you want printed and if you want it front to back. I hope this helps! April

I purchased the shades of gray planner. I want to choose certain pages to send to office depot for them to print front and back and bind. I did this last year with another planner. However, I cannot figure out how to delete the pages I do not want to have in my document. Can you help? I have tried both the power point version and the adobe version.

In the Power Point version you click on the slide itself and press the delete button. You could save that version as a new file with 'save as'. You can only delete slides in the Power Point version. If you would like to use the pdf to print, then you would have to specifically tell the print shop which pages you want printed. But yes, you can always delete slides in Power Point. Hope this helps! When you are in Power Point, you click on the main button (a circle on the top left corner) and then scroll down and choose print. From there you can choose which pages you would like to print. In the pdf version, you click on the 'file' button, scroll down and choose 'print'. I hope this answers your question. Thanks, April

I do my days of the week across the top and subjects on the left side in the weekly planning sheets... I bought something in TPT before and I was unable to edit the amount of boxes on the sheets.... could I run into that problem again? So, I was stuck with only 5 subject boxes on the left side and I needed a lot more than that..... does my question make sense?? Please let me know if you understand what my concern is. Basically, I need to be able to edit the size and number of boxes in excel to allow me to outline my day as needed (smaller boxes for recess and special and larger boxes for reading, math, science, etc.). I could not do this with the other teacher planner I purchased and do not want to make that mistake again. This looks awesome!
Thanks.

I am interested in buying the Texas planner and am wondering if all grade level teks are together, or if ELA are all listed together, then Math, etc. I would only want to print K and I teks, so I am wondering how it is arranged. If I buy it now and TEA makes changes, will you offer an update? Thank you!!

The TEKS are arranged first with Math and start with Kinder. So for example there are 3 pages of Kindergarten Math TEKS. After the Math TEKS are the LA TEKS...in order by grade level. I will be updating all of my Texas Planners in August after TEA makes its final revisions this summer. There will be an addendum to the planner. Thanks, April

The Teacher Planner is strictly for planning purposes. It was created with the idea that you could take it back and forth from school and it not be cumbersome. The Classroom Organizer has all sorts of pages to collect information and data (like Parent Info, Student Info, Assessment Data, Substitute Info, Newsletters...etc.) (They do not include the same templates) Hope that helps. Hi, I love this planner! I had a question... Would it be possible to make the weekly lesson plan pages go vertically instead of horizontally? (have all Monday lessons in one column rather than one row?)

Also, is there a way to insert lined boxes, instead of blank boxes?

Thanks, just let me know when you have a chance!

Hi, there are 2 lesson planning pages that are a 2-page spread. One has the days of the week on the side (so in rows) and the other has the days of the week at the top (in columns). Also, the editable version is blank so you can customize it to fit your needs. I hope that answers that question. I'm thinking that is what you need. As far as the lines in your boxes, you would have to add the lines in the boxes and then you could copy and paste that box however many times, wherever you need. Let me know if you have any other questions or I didn't answer the question clearly. Thanks! April

I already printed my current teacher binder that was recently updated with the new school year, then I saw this and decided I "NEEDED" it since it completely matches my classroom decor. Thanks for all the work you put into it... I look forward to buying it.

I'm sorry I wish I could change it, but it would take me a couple of months to do. I know that sounds crazy but changing each month in each design would be a lot. If my list wasn't already so long, I would love to do a custom request. Please note that Saturday and Sunday are small. There really isn't a lot of space for those days. Thanks for checking though. I can keep this in mind for the future. :) April

Are the standards editable? I am doing high school and will be teaching high school math, and will want to include all my different class standards. (I guess what I am asking is, is everything editable to where I could make it personal?)

The standards are not editable. However, I could send you a blank page with the designs on the side and you could copy and paste whatever standards you are needing. Throughout the planner, I have room for you to type or write the standards but I don't have them listed. They are only listed at the back. I hope this makes sense. If you decide to go this route, let me know and I'll send you the page. My email is amodernteacher@gmail.com Thanks, April

Any of the Texas Planners. There are 6 designs to choose from The TEKS are listed at the back so any will work for you. I will be updating the Math TEKS in August after TEA makes their final revisions for next year. Thanks, April

Can you offer this in a red instead of the pink? I love this set, but don't care for pink. :) just curious! You have done a great job creating this packet!

You know, I've had several requests for red (instead of pink). I will put it on the list and *hopefully* get to it in July. I am pretty sure I can do it. I am sorry I can't guarantee but the list is super long. BUT I will try :) Thanks, April

Hello,

I love your teacher binder!
When creating documents, how do you make it so others can edit them on the computer? I love the idea of having blank templates where we can add our own text if needed.
Thanks!

Thank you! So, I save all the pages as images (pngs). Then I create a new document and insert the images. I then add text boxes to all the fields so someone can start typing. Here is a little tutorial on my friends' blog that she made: http://gingersnapstreatsforteachers.blogspot.com/2012/06/tutorial-making-editable-files-with.html
Have fun! April

No, this is for all those papers you have to organize. It is something that you would keep at school vs. the Lesson Planner that you might take home with you. The Lesson Planner has printables you would use to plan all your lessons. The Organizer all the information like...how the kids are going home...meeting notes, parent logs, etc. Hope this helps!

Would this be printable on legal size paper? I would like to have the extra space and possibly add a few more spaces (to include reading groups, etc).

I'm not sure. I don't think so. I think it would come out a little fuzzy. Maybe if you took it to a print shop and they could increase the size. I still think it might not come out as clear. Sorry about that!

Right now the planner has the 'old' Math TEKS BUT I will be updating them in August. I'm just waiting to make sure TEA doesn't make any more revisions/changes this summer. Thanks! (you could add those pages in August when I update the file)

Hi April!

I love your classroom organizers! Are all of the same things included (except the common core) in this Chevron Chic for $7.50 and the Happy Day for $8.50? I just want to make sure that they include the same things, other than the Common Core. Thank you!

Hi there, All classroom organizers are $7.50. These are printables to keep all your information organized and in a binder. This pack includes cover sheets. This is completely different than the planners. The Teacher and Lesson Planners are $8.50 and include sheets that you would take home with you like calendar, lesson planning pages, standards...this pack is meant to be more for planning only. I hope that makes sense! Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
