I would think so. The book is Grade Level Equivalent: 5.9. Guided Reading Level: R. Age: 9-12. In 3rd or 4th, I would use it for a read aloud, but for 5th or 6th, I would recommend using it for a literature circle or as a read aloud at the beginning of the school year, since the reading level is 5.9.

I have noticed a couple errors while completing the activities with my students. The one my students brought to my attention was that Mr. O'Hara is Joe's dad, not Alan's. Also, in the test, Billy should be spelled "Billy", not Billie. Thanks!

Well Amanda, the reason is I goofed. I put the correct words in the answer document, but forgot to copy them into the student sheet. I copy slides and then type over them as I go, and I just must have missed this one. I do the answer doc first, in order to type the answers as I am reading. Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. I'm not sure why I put Johnson. I guess I just thought it sounded right. My kiddos usually catch my mistakes before I put a unit in my store. If you purchased a PDF and it is blurry after you open it, solve it this way: on a MAC or PC, install the latest version of ADOBE READER. Then, open the file with ADOBE READER. That's it. On a MAC, make sure to "Open With" ADOBE READER and NOT Preview. If it's still blurry, that's because you are still opening it with Preview! This is the message that from TpT when you go to download. I know how tight money is, especially for us teachers, and I would hate to think that you paid for something you weren't going to be able to use. I have never had a problem printing adobe acrobat files with adobe reader (it's supposed to work that way). I solved the problem by selecting "print as an image" in my printer window. The document looks fine so far. Thanks!

I have heard of this happening before if you are using a Mac. You need to make sure that your are choosing Adobe Acrobat to open the file. If you are using a Mac, it doesn't automatically choose Adobe to open it. If you still have further problems, let me know and I will contact the TpT team to see what else we can do!

Hi! I saw your post on the thread about TPT milestones asking if I had advice for getting that first milestone. I think your store looks great! I think I got "lucky" because I am marketing primarily to 5th grade teachers and I know, as a 5th grade teacher, I usually wind up getting items that are really for 3rd-4th. I know I will have even more sales if I branch out and create items that span many grade levels. But, I really wanted to stay true to my grade level and give them exactly what they need. Also, I got bit by the Common Core bug and making products specifically aligned to the standards has been awesome for my sales as well.

Thanks for responding! I think I will probably have to look into the Common Core. Our district has not adopted it yet, but I'm sure it won't be long. From what I've seen and heard, it seems to follow our TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills). Like you, I mainly create items for the grade I teach, 3rd grade, because that's what I know and I use them in my class. Congratulations on your success and thank you for the Common Core tip!

Oh no Janelle! Can you believe I even printed these out for my own classroom and didn't notice? I am so glad you caught this mistake. When I went back to fix it, I found out that somehow the filmstrip piece moved around and the line was underneath it. Please go back and re-download the fixed item. I'm so sorry you already printed it out. I think I missed it because the film strip was straight at the top. I usually print out the pages individually on my printer and then do the back to back on a copier, so I didn't think about putting the answer keys all at the end. It's a quick fix. I will place them at the end and then re-post. You should be able to download the revised product if you go to your purchases. Check back this evening. I should have it up by then!

A Series of 3rd Grade Events (TpT Seller)
All the conversion posters go up to the hundred thousands, but the 5 Ways Poster uses hundreds to explain the different ways to write a number. Even though the Periods Poster and the Digits Poster go up to the hundred thousands, I think you could still use them. The 5 Ways Chart goes up to hundred thousands, but you could use it with tens, hundreds, and thousands (we do this). You would just leave the ten thousands and higher places blank. We always teach them to start with the ones place and work to the left. The mat is the same. It goes up to the hundred thousands, but you could just leave these blank. You could also use the pennants, leaving off the ones you don't need. I hope this helps! You should be able to see most of what I'm talking about by downloading the preview. I hope this helps!

I was going to email you, but wasn't sure if you made a typo in your email or of it really is spelled different that your seller name LOL... anyways... in our class we read Because of Winn Dixie, How to Eat Fried Worms, and Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing. Those are the ones I have class sets of as of right now and my kids LOVED Because of Winn Dixie and we are just now doing How to Eat Fried Worms and they are loving it! We haven't done 4th grade nothing yet because I plan to do it just for fun at the end of the year (since they will almost be 4th graders).
