Awesome! I created these about five years ago, and my students make the flashcards on the first day of school. So far, every student I have ever taught has passed the ELA portion of the CRCT, and most have exceeded. These flashcards are a major contributor to our success! Since you are using the flashcards, your students would most likely love cookie monster, another product I am selling. Most of the concepts for the game are directly from the flashcards.

I noticed that you are from Warner Robins! So am I! I live in Florida now but lived in WR most of my life. I worked at Pearl Stephens for a while in the Hearing Impaired Dept. and have friends at a lot of the schools in the area.

Funny...I worked in Florida my first year (Seminole County), and I really loved Heathrow Elementary. I am currently at Quail Run Elementary and have been happy there in 5th grade for six years now. Houston County is a good school district, and many teachers from surrounding districts are constantly trying to find jobs here. I believe they are soon to rebuild Pearl Stephens.
Anyway, thanks for downloading. Good luck in the Sunshine State!

Amy, hi! Each letter in crunches stands for a different strategy to use when taking a comprehension quiz. I didn't want to give it all away in the thumbnail because people could just jot them down instead of purchasing them. However, I can elaborate a little more... U stands for underline your answer in the passage. E stands for eliminate silly answers. Every strategy is fully elaborated with specific examples of how to use each one in the product. My students live by them and always do really well on quizes and standardized tests. Let me know if you need more, and please leave feedback if you should choose to purchase. Thanks for the question.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
This is my 6th year teaching 5th grade. I spent my first year teaching in Florida, but a move to Georgia has seen me spend my last five years in Houston County at Quail Run Elementary School. I love it there and see myself in that setting for a while.
MY TEACHING STYLE
My classroom is structured closest to a workshop model. However, it is often hard to pull 26 students to the carpet for a mini-lesson, so the model is a bit different. I feel my students learn best when I go through the process with them; therefore, when they write a narrative, expository, persuasive, or poetic piece, I do too...and not a piece that I use every single year, again and again. I like to model everything elaborately, and I constantly bring fresh ideas to my classroom to push my students as far as I can!
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
I was named teacher of the year for the 2008 2009 school year.
MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
I received my undergrad from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. I earned my MEd. in Accomplished Teaching from Georgia Southern University in December of 2011. I plan to start working on my specialist degree within the year.
ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
I have an incredible family, and I am so thankful for them. My wife, Stacey, is absolutely stunning and is my best friend. My almost-4-year-old, Sadie, keeps me smiling and busy. She is so energetic and also beautiful. My son, Finn, is 3-months old, and he is my happy, little buddy. They are all so precious to me! It's hard to find time for personal hobbies, but I do like to play golf and fish when I get a minute or two; however, my favorite thing to do is yell at the Atlanta Braves on Sports South as often as I can.
